About Us
Community Fabric uses sewing to empower and engage Iowa's refugee women from Burma. Alongside of our sewing focus, Community Fabric provides an authentic area for our students to practice their English, math, and leadership skills.
Community Fabric will hold a summer program for young women, ages 16-21, as part of a Youth Employment Program starting June 1st. Our hope is to build community fabric into a cross generational and culture project that will preserve the sewing and hand weaving traditions of many ethnic groups from Burma, now living in Iowa.
